AGF Withdraws Forgery Case Against Mike Ozekhome

On Tuesday, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, withdrew the alleged forgery case against senior advocate Mike Ozekhome, which was being pursued by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). This development was announced in the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, where AGF's counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, informed Justice Peter Kekemeke that the proceedings would be put on hold pending the AGF's review of the case file.

The ICPC had previously sought to arraign Ozekhome over allegations of forgery connected to a property transaction in the United Kingdom, purportedly involving an individual named Shani Tali. The allegations were said to constitute a felony under the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act of 2000.

The AGF's decision to intervene is part of a broader pattern of involvement in criminal proceedings initiated by law enforcement agencies. The matter has been adjourned until February 24, pending the outcome of the AGF's review.
