BREAKING: FG Makes Crucial Appointment

The Federal Government has appointed Professor Mathew Adamu as the new Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja. The appointment was announced in a statement by the institution's Acting Registrar, Roseline Adakayi, with Adamu set to serve in the role for three months starting from August 11, 2025.

He takes over from Professor Patricia Manko Lar, who had been serving in an acting capacity since February 2025. Professor Lar's tenure was praised for bringing stability to the academic and administrative functions of the university.

The University Governing Council, led by Senator Olanrewaju Tejuoso, will oversee the process of appointing a substantive Vice-Chancellor. Professor Adamu, a member of the College of Veterinary Surgeons Nigeria, is the second Acting Vice-Chancellor appointed by the Federal Government this year.

The university community has expressed gratitude to Professor Lar for her dedicated service and leadership.
