Amaechi Joins ADC Amid Tensions in Rivers State

On Friday morning, former Rivers State Governor and immediate past Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, officially registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ward 8, Ubima, Ikwerr Local Government Area, Rivers State. This registration signifies a new political chapter for Amaechi as he prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The event took place amid heightened tensions in the community due to an earlier fire incident that partially destroyed the ADC office in the area, reportedly set ablaze by unidentified individuals. Despite the unrest, the registration proceeded with security personnel deployed to maintain order.

Amaechi urged the community to remain peaceful and avoid violence, emphasizing that violent actions could lead to fatalities. He commended the security agencies for their professionalism during the event and called for an investigation into the fire incident to bring the responsible parties to justice.
