Amaechi Joins ADC Amid Tensions in Rivers State

On Friday morning, former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi officially registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in his hometown of Ubima, located in the Ikwerr Local Government Area of Rivers State. This event took place amid heightened tensions in the community, as an arson attack had been reported earlier that day, with unknown individuals setting a section of the party office ablaze, causing panic among residents.

Despite the tense situation, Amaechi addressed a crowd, appealing for calm and warning against violent retaliation. He commended the security personnel deployed to the area, particularly the state commissioner of police, for their professional conduct during the incident.

Amaechi urged security agencies to swiftly identify and prosecute those responsible for the attack, emphasizing that attempts to intimidate party members through violence would not deter political activities in the community.
