Judge Withdraws from Cases Involving Ex-AGF Malami Amid Legal Controversies

In a significant development, Judge Obiora Egwuatu in Abuja has withdrawn from presiding over two cases involving Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation. The cases revolve around forfeiture proceedings of 57 land assets valued at N212.8 billion linked to Malami and a money laundering case against Malami's wife, Asaba Bashir, and son, Abdulaziz Malami.

Additionally, Abdulaziz Malami faces terrorism-related firearm charges, with prosecutors alleging that Malami knowingly abetted terror financing. Malami's son has been in custody since November 2022 and was denied bail due to possessing firearms without a valid license.
