Breaking: House of Reps Candidate Allegedly Abducted, PDP Raises Alarm

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) raised an alarm during a press conference on Saturday, August 16, alleging that a House of Representatives candidate had been abducted. The PDP chairman, Edward Percy Masha, claimed that a joint security network carried out the operation, with security operatives storming a hotel in Malalu to arrest the campaign council chairman, Hussein, who was nowhere to be found.

Masha condemned the act, blaming the ruling Progressives Congress (APC) for harassment and intimidation. He called for the immediate release of the candidate and other members who were allegedly arrested.

The PDP also called on the President, the Director General of the DSS, the Inspector General of Police, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Chief of Army Staff to intervene. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to conduct elections for vacant positions in the national and state houses of assembly in 12 states across the country.

This includes two senatorial districts, five federal constituencies.
