INEC Proposes N873.78bn Budget for 2027 Elections in Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has put forward a budget proposal of N873.78 billion for the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. The budget includes allocations for election operations, technology, and capital expenditures.

INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan presented the proposal to the Senate Joint Committee on Electoral Matters in the National Assembly.

The budget breakdown includes N375.75 billion for activities directly related to conducting the elections, N92.31 billion for election administration costs, and N209.21 billion for election technology costs. Additionally, N41.61 billion is earmarked for miscellaneous expenses, bringing the total proposed budget to N873.78 billion.

The budget reflects INEC's continued reliance on technology-driven processes for efficient election management.
