Kano Governor Yusuf Makes Fresh Appointments 48 Hours After Defecting to APC

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved a new round of appointments and promotions across key government agencies just 48 hours after officially rejoining the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, January 26, 2026. Among the appointments are Hon.

Abdulkadir Balarab Kankarofi as Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs, Aisha Tamburawa as Special Adviser on Propaganda, and Mukhtar Yusuf as Managing Director of the Water Resources Engineering and Construction Agency (WRECA). Additionally, Zakari Usman Balan has been appointed as the new Deputy Managing Director of WRECA.

Dr. Mukhtar Bello Maisudan has been named the new Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board, while Hon.

Musayyib Kawu Ungoggo has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Kano Zoological Garden. Governor Yusuf emphasized that the new appointments and promotions are aimed at enhancing the government's capacity to deliver people-oriented governance and strengthen public institutions in line with his administration's objectives.
