INEC Removes David Mark-led ADC NWC Amid Court Order

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially removed the David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from its portal, in compliance with a court appeal order. This decision, disclosed on Wednesday, aims to maintain the status quo pending the resolution of a substantial suit in the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The leadership crisis within the ADC has led to rival factions, notably one led by Nafiu Bala Gomb, claiming control over the party's national structure. The court's judgment, delivered on March 12, 2026, directs the party to maintain its existing situation until the dispute is resolved.

INEC's action follows a suit filed on September 2, 2025, and the commission has stated that it will refrain from engaging with any faction of the party until a final ruling is delivered. INEC emphasized its commitment to neutrality and adherence to judicial pronouncements.
