NECO Releases 2025 SSCE Results: Over 68,000 Candidates Pass, Registrar Expresses Concern Over Exam Malpractice

The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2025 External Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results, revealing that over 68,000 candidates passed the exam. The Registrar of NECO, Wushishi, made the announcement at the council's headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

A total of 96,979 candidates registered for the exam, covering 16 subjects nationwide. The report indicated that 51,823 male candidates represented 53.43%, while 45,156 female candidates accounted for 46.56%.

Wushishi provided a breakdown of the performance, with 93,425 candidates sitting for English Language and 73,167 candidates obtaining credit and above. However, there was a concern over an increase in exam malpractice cases, with 9,016 candidates involved in various forms of malpractice.

The Registrar recommended the blacklisting of five supervisors implicated in aiding exam malpractice. Four examination centers were also recommended for derecognition due to malpractice.

NECO reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity of its examinations and warned of appropriate sanctions to deter malpractice.
