Gombe Governor Swears in 19 Permanent Secretaries

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has sworn in 19 new Permanent Secretaries, an event described as the largest of its kind in the state's history. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the International Conference Centre, bringing the total number of Permanent Secretaries appointed during his tenure to 55.

Additionally, over 100 directors have been promoted to senior administrative roles within the state civil service. Ismaila Misilli, the Director-General for Press Affairs, confirmed that these appointments aim to close manpower gaps and enhance the institutional capacity of the state government.

Governor Yahaya announced plans to initiate a significant recruitment exercise into the civil service before his tenure concludes on May 29, 2027. He directed the Head of Civil Service to collaborate with the State Civil Service Commission for a comprehensive manpower needs assessment across all ministries.

The governor emphasized that the biometric attendance system has helped reduce ghost workers and absenteeism, saving the state significant funds. Musa Mohammed Babaji, speaking on behalf of the new appointees, expressed gratitude for the appointments.
