Breaking: NLC Issues New Strike Notice, Gives 2 Reasons

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a new strike notice, giving the federal government seven days to refund worker funds allegedly diverted from the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and constitute the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) governing board. Failure to meet these demands will result in a nationwide strike.

The decision was announced after a Central Working Committee meeting presided over by NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero. The NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have previously initiated nationwide actions in response to economic policies, such as the removal of fuel subsidy.

The NLC has successfully initiated three nationwide strikes in the past and could declare a fourth if their demands are not met. In other news, the federal government has announced the suspension of establishing new federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education to avoid duplication and waste of resources.
