Nnamdi Kanu Withdraws Plan to Call Witnesses in Terrorism Trial

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has decided to withdraw his earlier plan to call witnesses in his ongoing terrorism trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Kanu argued that he found no valid charges against him and insisted that the trial is unlawful.

Justice James Omotosho, presiding over the case, directed Kanu to file a formal written address outlining his position. Kanu was advised to seek expert counsel in criminal law to understand the implications of forgoing his defense in the trial.

The court adjourned proceedings to October 24 to allow Kanu to open his defense.
