NNPC Reduces Petrol Price to ₦1,250 in Abuja

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced a reduction in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to ₦1,250 per litre at selected retail outlets in Abuja. This new price reflects a decrease of ₦49 from the previous price of ₦1,299 per litre.

A market survey conducted by Daily Post on Tuesday revealed that NNPC outlets in Gwarimpa, along the Kubwa Expressway, Wuse Zone 4, and Wuse Zone 6 are selling petrol at this new rate. The price adjustment comes in response to reports that motorists were avoiding NNPC retail outlets due to higher prices compared to competing marketers.

Prior to this reduction, MRS and other filling stations had lowered their prices by ₦25 to ₦50 per litre. The pricing decisions of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery have increasingly influenced competition in Nigeria’s downstream market.

Following the adjustment, petrol prices in Abuja and surrounding areas range from approximately ₦1,210 to ₦1,300 per litre, depending on the marketer and location. Consumers are advised to verify the displayed pump price at individual filling stations before purchasing petrol.
