Kola Oyewo's Burial Rites Scheduled for August 2026

The family of the late veteran Nigerian actor Kola Oyewo has released the schedule for his three-day burial rites, which will take place from Wednesday, August 5, to Friday, August 7, 2026. The events will commence with a wake service at St.

Mary's Catholic Church in Igboya on August 5, followed by a commendation mass on August 6. An artist night will be held at Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) on the evening of August 6, where friends, colleagues, and admirers will gather to pay tribute through cultural performances and an exhibition of Oyewo's creative works, including photographs.

The requiem mass will take place on August 7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in his hometown, Oba Ile, Osun State, followed by a private family interment.

Kola Oyewo passed away on June 12, 2026, at the age of 80, recognized as a leading figure in Nigeria's theatrical scene.
