NUT Protests in Lagos Over Oyo School Kidnappings

On Tuesday, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) organized a protest in Ikeja, Lagos State, calling for urgent action to address the ongoing kidnappings of school children and teachers in Oyo State. The demonstration drew a large number of teachers who expressed their concerns over the safety of students and educational workers across the country.

Protesters carried placards and chanted solidarity songs, urging relevant security agencies and authorities to intensify efforts to secure the release of victims and improve safety around schools. The protest was a response to the growing public outrage over the recent kidnappings, with civil society groups and educational stakeholders stressing the importance of schools remaining safe spaces for learning and teaching.

The NUT called on federal and state authorities to act swiftly to rescue abducted victims and ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
