NUT Demands Urgent Rescue of Kidnapped Oyo Teachers, Students

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) expressed grave concern regarding the kidnapping of teachers and students during a coordinated attack on a school in the Ahoro Esinel Yawota Community, Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State. In a statement issued on Saturday, NUT's state chairman, Hassan Fatai, and secretary, Salami Olukayode, highlighted the severe psychological distress that prolonged captivity inflicts on the victims' families and the school community.

The union called for immediate action from the government and security agencies, acknowledging ongoing interventions but stressing that time is of the essence. They noted that every additional minute spent in captivity deepens the trauma for the innocent victims.

The NUT urged the authorities to intensify surveillance, strengthen community intelligence, and deploy necessary operations to ensure the safe release of the abducted individuals. They also called on community leaders and residents to support security agencies with credible information to aid in the rescue efforts.
