Osun Police Commissioner Ibrahim Gotan Redeployed to Abuja

Ibrahim Gotan, the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, has been redeployed to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for a special assignment, as confirmed by an official police communication issued from the Force Secretariat on Thursday. This directive, which was approved by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, mandates immediate compliance from all police formations nationwide.

The redeployment comes just weeks before the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, generating significant reactions in the state. Allies of Governor Ademola Adeleke welcomed the decision, with his Special Assistant on Digital Media, Oni Gbenga Lawrence, expressing gratitude to the Inspector-General for addressing public concerns.

The political climate in Osun has intensified, with allegations of security abuses and intimidation from rival political factions. Governor Adeleke has raised alarms about worsening security conditions, accusing the opposition All Progressives Congress and some security operatives of targeting his party members.
