New CP Erale Etaifo Appointed for Osun Elections Security

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has deployed Erale Etaifo as the new Commissioner of Police in charge of Elections to Osun State in preparation for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. This deployment, announced in a statement by the Osun Command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on July 31, 2026, aims to ensure neutrality, professionalism, and a credible electoral process.

CP Etaifo will oversee the security architecture for the election and coordinate operations with other security agencies and stakeholders. The Nigeria Police Force has committed to maintaining a peaceful and transparent atmosphere during the election, ensuring the safety of voters, electoral officials, and observers.

Officers assigned to election duty are instructed to remain impartial and respect citizens' rights. The Command has warned against electoral violence and other criminal activities, urging residents to cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious activities.
