New CP Assigned for Security in Osun Gubernatorial Election

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has deployed Erale Samuel Etaifo as the Commissioner of Police to oversee the security architecture for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Osun State. This deployment was announced in a statement by the Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, in Osogbo.

The IGP's decision reflects a commitment to neutrality, professionalism, and the conduct of free, fair, and credible elections. Etaifo will coordinate election security operations in collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with the Electoral Act and related laws.

The Osun State Police Command has assured the public of adequate security measures to protect lives, property, and electoral materials. All officers on election duty are instructed to remain impartial and respectful of citizens' rights.

Political actors and their supporters are warned to maintain peace and avoid actions that could disrupt public order. The election is set for Saturday, August 15, featuring 14 candidates, including the incumbent.
