BREAKING: PDP NEC Confirms Damagum as Substantive National Chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) has officially confirmed Ambassador Umar Damagum as the substantive National Chairman of the party. The decision was made during the PDP's 102nd NEC meeting held at the party's national secretariat in Abuja.

Damagum had been serving in an acting capacity since March 2023, following the suspension of former Chairman Iyorchia Ayu, a decision later upheld by the court. The NEC also appointed Damagum as the Deputy National Chairman North.

He is set to formally assume his position as the substantive Chairman ahead of the National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, Oyo State. The party's National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, administered the oath of office to Damagum.
