Peter Obi and John Odigi Oyegun Survive Assassination Attempt

On Tuesday, Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and John Odigi Oyegun, the former national chairman of the APC, survived an alleged assassination attempt in Benin City. The incident took place shortly after Obi left the ADC headquarters in the state capital.

Reports indicate that assailants opened fire at Oyegun's residence, with multiple bullet holes visible on the estate gate and several official vehicles damaged. A video circulating online captured the chaotic aftermath of the attack.

Yunusa Tanko, the national coordinator of the Obidi Movement, described the incident as a failed assassination attempt targeting the leadership of the ADC. Although both Obi and Oyegun escaped unharmed, the extent of property damage was significant.

The leadership of the ADC has expressed serious concerns regarding the threats to their safety, while state authorities have yet to comment on the incident or confirm any arrests.
