Plateau State Imposes Curfew After Deadly Jos Attack

The Plateau State Government, led by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area after a deadly attack on Sunday night that left several residents dead and others injured. The incident, which occurred in the Angwan Rukuba community, triggered widespread tension across the city, prompting swift action from state authorities.

A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Joyc Lohya Ramnap, condemned the attack as barbaric and unprovoked against innocent citizens.

The curfew took effect at midnight on Sunday and will remain in force until April 1, 2026, as the government considers it necessary to prevent further breakdown of law and order. Security agencies have been deployed to track down the perpetrators, and the governor has assured residents of ongoing security operations to restore calm and protect lives and property.

The University of Jos has also advised its community to exercise extreme caution and postpone examinations scheduled for March 30 and 31 due to the unrest.
