Oyo Police Rescue Ex-Minister's Family After Gun Battle

On June 6, 2026, Oyo State Police conducted a successful rescue operation for Olaid Busayo Adegok John Paul and his twin brother Peter Paul, both 12 years old, along with their younger sister, who is related to Chief Adebayo Adelabu, a former Minister of Power. The victims were abducted on June 3, 2026, while being dropped off at school.

Following intelligence gathering, the police mounted pressure on the kidnappers, leading to a tactical operation that resulted in a fierce gun battle around 7:30 PM. During the confrontation, two suspects were neutralized, and two firearms were recovered.

The victims were rescued unharmed and are currently receiving medical evaluation. Senior security officials disclosed that the operation also targeted nearby areas to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate, who are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter.

Governor Seyi Makinde visited Chief Adebayo Adelabu to express condolences and pledged ongoing efforts to ensure the victims' safe release.
