Senate Confirms Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance

On Wednesday, the Nigerian Senate confirmed Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance, succeeding Dori Uzoka. Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the confirmation after a voice vote in the chamber.

The screening process for Oyedele began during the Senate's plenary session, where Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele moved the motion to admit the nominee. Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram Akoko in Ondo State, is expected to manage the ministry's budget and fiscal policies until President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nominates a full minister.

He has an extensive background in finance, having spent 22 years at PwC, where he became the Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. Oyedele holds a Higher National Diploma in Accounting from Yaba College of Technology, a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, and has completed executive education programs at the London School of Economics and Harvard Kennedy School.
