Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation for Oyedele as Minister

President Bola Tinubu has formally sought the Senate's confirmation of Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance. This request was communicated through a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which was read during the plenary session on Tuesday.

The nomination is in accordance with the provisions of Section 147(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended). Tinubu's letter emphasized the hope that the Senate would expedite the consideration of Oyedele's nomination.

Oyedele, who is a distinguished economist and public policy expert, is set to succeed Dr. Dori Uzoka, who has been redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.

His appointment is seen as crucial for overhauling Nigeria's tax system and implementing recent tax reform legislation aimed at enhancing revenue generation and streamlining business operations.
