CAF President Confirms Senegal's Right to Appeal AFCON Ruling

In a video interview published by CAF Monitor on Wednesday, Patrice Motsepe, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), addressed the controversy surrounding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final between Senegal and Morocco. He confirmed that Senegal retains the right to appeal the decision that stripped them of the title, asserting that all 54 African nations have the right to pursue appeals to advance their interests.

Motsepe acknowledged the significant controversy and admitted that the incident has damaged trust in African football. He expressed disappointment over the events of the final match and highlighted the need for integrity and respect in officiating.

Motsepe also discussed the ongoing distrust in football governance in Africa and the importance of reforming CAF's judicial structures to ensure impartiality. He reiterated that no single country would receive preferential treatment and that CAF is committed to maintaining high standards and public trust in its decisions.
