Terrorists Bomb Bridge in Niger State, Many Feared Dead

On Monday, around 2 AM, terrorists bombed a bridge along Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State. The attack is believed to be an attempt to disrupt troop movements during ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

The bridge connects the Luma, Babana, and Agwara communities, which have faced repeated attacks recently, impacting commercial activities, particularly at the Babana border market. The Niger State Police Command spokesperson, Wasui Abiodun, confirmed the attack, noting that the assailants are suspected to operate from Kainji National Park and used improvised explosive devices.

The incident was reported at 6:30 AM, indicating that the explosion occurred earlier that day. Additionally, a source disclosed that a commercial vehicle carrying eight passengers reportedly ran into the explosion along Nuku Woro Road, resulting in the deaths of the occupants.

However, police have yet to officially confirm the report of eight fatalities among travelers.
