Terrorist Bombing in Niger State Kills Driver, Injures Woman

In Niger State, a driver was killed and a woman seriously injured when a bomb detonated on Luma Road, Borgu Local Government Area, at approximately 2 AM. The attack appears to be an attempt to disrupt troop movements amid ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

The vehicle involved was a commercial Toyota, carrying a female passenger and a six-month-old baby, who was unharmed. The incident, confirmed by Hon.

Abubakar Abdullahi, chairman of Kaiama Local Government Area, occurred shortly after 7 AM. Security forces, including soldiers and police, have been deployed to the area to reinforce security following the attack, which is part of a broader crackdown on bandit logistics networks.

The Niger State Police Command, represented by spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun, attributed the attack to suspected terrorists operating near Kainji National Park. This incident follows a series of attacks in the region, raising concerns about local safety and the effectiveness of security measures.
