Tinubu Approves Salary Hike for Nigerian Soldiers

President Bola Tinubu has approved a new salary increase for personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, set to take effect on September 1. This adjustment will impact around 250,000 military personnel.

Officers above the rank of Colonel, including Brigadier-Generals, Major-Generals, Lieutenant-Generals, and Generals, will receive a 30% salary increase. Personnel from Colonel down to Warrant Officer will enjoy a 50% increase, while soldiers from Private to Staff Sergeant will receive the highest adjustment of 80%.

This new salary structure applies to members of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, and Nigerian Air Force. The approval aligns with the Federal Government's commitment to enhancing the welfare of troops amid ongoing security challenges such as terrorism and banditry.

Minister of Defence Christopher Musa previously indicated that further salary increases would be announced, emphasizing the government's dedication to rewarding military personnel for their sacrifices.
