President Bola Tinubu met with the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibas, as the emergency rule in the state nears its end. The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, lasted for two hours.

The emergency rule, declared in March amid political crisis, is set to end on September 18. Tinubu suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and others, citing escalating tension and governance breakdown.
