Tinubu Swears in Taiwo Oyedele as Finance Minister

On Monday, President Bola Tinubu officially swore in Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance during a ceremony held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja at approximately 2:30 PM. This event followed the Nigerian Senate's confirmation of Oyedele's nomination five days earlier on March 12, 2023, after a voice vote and an extensive screening session led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram Akoko in Ondo State, brings over two decades of experience in fiscal policy and tax administration, having served as the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform. His appointment comes at a critical time for Nigeria, which faces significant fiscal challenges.

Oyedele replaces Dori Uzoka Anit and is expected to spearhead comprehensive tax reforms, including the introduction of four executive bills aimed at consolidating Nigeria's tax system. These reforms are set to take effect on January 1, 2026.
