WAEC Candidates Relocated After Oyo Terror Attack

Following a terrorist attack in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, candidates taking the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) were relocated to safer communities. The attack involved gunmen who abducted students and teachers, leading to heightened fears among parents and residents.

Students from public schools were moved to Ikoyi, while private school candidates were transferred to Ogbomoso to continue their exams. Parents were required to pay N3,000 for transport per child, excluding feeding costs, as the students were not provided accommodation and returned home after exams.

The attack also resulted in the tragic death of teacher Michael Oyedokun, who was abducted and later beheaded, causing deep grief in the community. The Oyo State government ordered the closure of schools in four local government areas as security agencies intensified rescue efforts.

The situation has left families devastated and raised concerns about the safety of students in the region.
