Major Outage Hits X (Twitter) in Nigeria and Worldwide

On Monday, X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, faced a significant outage that prevented users from accessing its app and website. The company has not yet confirmed the cause of this widespread disruption, nor provided information on when services will be restored.

Last month, the platform had already experienced issues, with thousands of users reporting difficulties. Data monitoring service Downdetector indicated a sharp spike in complaints, suggesting that the outage affected users across multiple countries, including Canada, Australia, France, Indonesia, Ghana, Nigeria, and Germany.

Users reported difficulties accessing both the desktop and mobile versions of the platform, which hindered their ability to refresh timelines, post updates, and access core features. This incident is part of a series of technical challenges faced by X, as a separate widespread outage caused by internet infrastructure firm Cloudflare also disrupted services for users in various countries, including the United States, India, and Nigeria.
