British Envoy Praises Kwara Governor for Gender Equality Efforts

Gill Lever, the British Deputy High Commissioner, commended Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his "trailblazing role" in advancing gender parity and women's rights during her visit to Ilorin on Tuesday. Lever noted that Abdulrazaq's administration has appointed women to 50% of cabinet positions, emphasizing the significance of women's representation in political life.

She expressed strong support for the special seat bill aimed at increasing women's political participation, which is essential for Nigeria's economic development. Lever also mentioned the British government's collaboration with the state to enhance digital skills and nurture young talent in the tech industry.

She visited the Ilorin innovation hub to assess progress in developing skills for the tech sector. Additionally, she reaffirmed the British government's commitment to supporting credible and peaceful elections in Nigeria, emphasizing neutrality and respect for democratic values.

Abdulrazaq's administration has made significant strides in various sectors, including education and healthcare, since taking office in 2019.
