Lagos TikToker Exposes BRT Bus Shortage and Harassment

Darkskinnedella, a TikTok creator who relocated to Lagos in September-October 2025, shared her experiences of commuting daily on the BRT system, highlighting significant bus shortages at the Ikorodu terminal. In her video posted on Wednesday, she described how commuters often wait up to two hours to board buses, despite arriving early.

On Tuesday, she faced confrontation from a woman, later identified as a BRT staff member, who attempted to stop her from recording the long queues. Darkskinnedella insisted on documenting the situation until adequate bus supply was provided.

She claimed that the staff threatened her and warned that she would be held accountable for her recordings. The Lagos State Government and LAMATA have been aware of complaints regarding bus shortages dating back to 2020, with commuters regularly enduring long wait times due to insufficient buses.

The situation escalated when Darkskinnedella learned that several BRT buses were chartered for an event, exacerbating the shortage for daily commuters.
