Bruno Fernandes Wins Football Writers’ Player of the Year

Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United has been awarded the Football Writers’ Player of the Year Award, beating Declan Rice in the voting. Fernandes secured 45 votes from the Football Writers' Association, which consists of 900 members, marking him as the third Portuguese player to win this accolade.

His performance this season has been pivotal in leading Manchester United to a third-place finish, qualifying them for the Champions League next season. Fernandes has provided 19 assists, equaling the record of 20 assists set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

He joined Manchester United in January 2020 and has contributed significantly with eight goals and 27 assists, creating 29 big chances this season. This award is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious individual awards in English football, having been established in 1947.
