No Funds Released for Controversial PFIPC, Budget Office Says

The Budget Office of the Federation, represented by Director-General Tanimu Yakubu, informed the House of Representatives that no funds from the N1.3 billion allocated in the 2026 Appropriation Act for the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) were released or spent. This statement was made during an ad hoc committee investigation into the council's creation and funding.

Yakubu stated that the council did not meet the necessary legal and administrative conditions for accessing public funds. He confirmed that the Budget Office withheld financial clearance and instructed the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant-General not to process any payments related to the council.

The investigation follows claims by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who identified himself as the PFIPC's Director-General, despite the Presidency's denial of the council's existence. Adeyemi has faced allegations of forgery and has been arrested, while Femi Gbajabiamila has denied any wrongdoing and initiated legal action against him.
