Burial Rites For Doyin Abiola Hold September 7–9

The burial rites for Doyin Abiola, a trailblazer in Nigerian journalism, will take place from September 7th to 9th, 2025, following her passing on August 5th at the age of 82 after a brief illness. Her daughter disclosed the burial plans, with a delegation from former Concord Press staff, known as the Great Concord Family, visiting the family's Ikeja home to express condolences.

The delegation, led by Coordinator Aliu Mohammed, assured the family that former staff would be involved in the burial arrangements. Abiola's daughter and relatives were reportedly delighted to receive a commemorative booklet compiled by the Great Concord Family.

The burial schedule is tentatively set for September 7th to 9th, with details of the service and program yet to be announced. Renovation work is already underway at the family house in Ikeja in preparation for the burial.
