Flamingos Coach Busari Invites 36 Players for Qualifiers

Akeem Ishola Busari, the head coach of the Flamingos, has called up 36 players to prepare for the second round of qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. The Flamingos are set to face the winner of the first-round tie between Niger and Guinea, with the first leg taking place this weekend and the return leg scheduled for Conakri next weekend.

The winner of this matchup will host Nigeria from May 22 to 24. Busari, who recently replaced Bankol Olowooker, has named five goalkeepers, ten defenders, thirteen midfielders, and eight forwards in his squad.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the appointment of former international defender Joi Jeged Idakwo as the first assistant coach, with Aighewi Omodiagh as the second assistant and Kola Ig serving as the goalkeeping trainer. The Flamingos aim to return to the global stage and hope to surpass their third-place finish in 2022, with the tournament scheduled to run from October 17 to November 7.
