Tinubu Reshuffles Cabinet, Appoints New Finance Minister

On October 24, 2023, President Bola Tinubu executed a cabinet reshuffle, removing Wale Edun from the position of Minister of Finance and appointing Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance. Additionally, Edun's role as Coordinator of the Economy was reassigned to Oyedele.

The outgoing Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Dangiwa, was replaced by Muttaqha Darma. The reshuffle was disclosed by Yomi Odunuga, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, referencing a memo signed by George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The President's decision, made under sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), aims to strengthen the government's cohesion and enhance its impact on Nigeria's economic agenda. Both Edun and Dangiwa expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and highlighted their contributions to the administration's economic reforms and housing policies.
