Tinubu Swears In Taiwo Oyedele as Finance Minister

On Monday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially swore in Taiwo Oyedele as Nigeria's new Minister of State for Finance during a ceremony held at the State House in Abuja. Oyedele's appointment comes as he replaces Doris Anite-Uzoka, who has been redeployed to the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning.

The Nigerian Senate had confirmed Oyedele's appointment on March 11, 2026, just 24 hours after President Tinubu forwarded his nomination for screening and approval. Oyedele is expected to serve as the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, where he will spearhead a major review and reform of Nigeria's tax system aimed at improving revenue generation and strengthening fiscal policy.

This appointment is anticipated to support the administration's ongoing economic reform efforts and stabilize Nigeria's public finance framework.
