Morocco Crowned AFCON 2025 Champions After Senegal Forfeit

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially declared Morocco the winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following Senegal's forfeiture of the final match. The ruling came after Senegal's players walked off the pitch during the match, which Morocco was leading 1-0.

The controversy began when a penalty was awarded to Morocco late in the regular time, prompting protests from Senegalese players. Although the team returned to complete the match, CAF determined that the earlier walk-off constituted a breach of regulations.

According to CAF's rules, a team that leaves the field without authorization and refuses to continue playing is subject to forfeiture. Consequently, the match result was recorded as a 3-0 victory in favor of Morocco, confirming them as champions of the 2025 AFCON tournament.
