Alex Iwobi Celebrates 100 Caps for Nigeria in Portugal Match

Alex Iwobi achieved a significant milestone by earning his 100th cap for the Nigerian national football team during a friendly match against Portugal on Wednesday, where Nigeria suffered a 2-1 defeat. This accomplishment places Iwobi among an elite group of Nigerian players, including former captain Joseph Yobo and current skipper Ahmed Musa, who have also reached 100 appearances.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) acknowledged Iwobi's achievement through a social media post. Despite the loss, Iwobi delivered a composed performance in midfield.

He expressed pride in reaching this landmark, emphasizing his commitment to Nigeria over representing England at youth levels. Iwobi made his senior debut in 2015 and has been a consistent figure in the Super Eagles setup, participating in multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and playing a key role in Nigeria's journey to the 2023 AFCON final in the Ivorian Coast.
