CAF Launches African Nations League in 2029 to Elevate African Football

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has introduced the African Nations League, set to commence in 2029, as a significant development in African football. The league will involve teams from all 54 CAF member associations, divided into four geographic zones.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe described the competition as a landmark step to showcase Africa's best players annually. The tournament aims to attract elite sponsors, elevate the global profile of African football, and provide a consistent flow of high-profile matches across the continent.

The move is part of CAF's strategy to keep international football visible, competitive, and commercially attractive every year. The league's launch aligns with changes in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) format, with Morocco hosting the 35th edition.
