CAF Suspends Coach and Players, Fines Senegal and Morocco Over AFCON '25 Final Misconduct

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has suspended Senegal's head coach, Pape Bouna Thiaw, for five matches and fined him $100,000 for unsporting conduct during the AFCON '25 final. Two Senegalese players, Iliman Cheikh Baroi Ndiay and Ismaila Sarr, were also suspended for two matches for unsporting behavior.

Additionally, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) was fined $300,000 for improper conduct and behavior of its players and technical staff. Morocco's defender, Achraf Hakimi, was suspended for two matches, while Ismaël Saibari received a three-match suspension and a $100,000 fine for similar offenses.

The Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) was fined $200,000 for the conduct of a ball boy and obstructing the referee's work. The final saw controversy with a VAR decision and protests, leading to Senegal winning the title.

CAF dismissed Morocco's protests, finding no basis to uphold their claims.
