CAIC Proposes Abuja for FOCAC 2026 Summit Hosting

The China Africa Invest Club (CAIC), represented by President Amb. Chukwu Chime, has formally requested that the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, consider Abuja as the host city for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit scheduled for the last quarter of 2026.

This request was made during a courtesy visit to the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, where Chime emphasized the importance of FOCAC as a historical platform for deepening strategic partnerships between China and African countries. He stated that hosting the summit in Nigeria would reinforce the country's position as a key player in Africa and further enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Additionally, Chime proposed the establishment of a Nigeria-China investment technology cooperation hub in Abuja to promote investment, facilitate technology transfer, and support local enterprises. He also requested the embassy's assistance in facilitating Nigerian participation at the upcoming Canton Fair in Guangzhou, China, in the last quarter of the year.
