Ojo Critiques Obi and Kwankwaso's Terrorist Negotiation Calls

Kabiru Ojo, a political analyst based in Kano, criticized the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running mate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for advocating dialogue with terrorists and violent groups. In an exclusive interview with DAILY POST on Thursday, Ojo argued that lasting peace can only be achieved through military action against such groups.

Kwankwaso had stated that communities affected by insecurity possess valuable intelligence but often fear sharing it due to a lack of trust in security agencies. He proposed that an NDC administration would engage in dialogue with terrorists to address insecurity.

Obi had previously expressed a willingness to negotiate with bandits if they were genuinely seeking peace. Ojo condemned these proposals, stating they indicate a lack of a concrete security strategy and that negotiating with terrorists, who have caused significant harm, amounts to failure.

He differentiated between the Niger Delta militancy and groups like Boko Haram, citing the former's legitimate grievances addressed by late President Yar’Adua.
