Kwankwaso Plans to Negotiate with Terrorists for Peace

Rabiu Kwankwaso, a presidential candidate from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), revealed his plans to negotiate with terrorists to tackle insecurity in Nigeria during an interview on Channel Television on Monday. He discussed the significant security challenges facing the country and outlined measures his party intends to adopt for the 2027 presidential election.

Kwankwaso highlighted that insecurity often thrives due to local communities possessing vital information about criminal activities but being reluctant to share this intelligence with security agencies due to distrust. He noted that citizens have lost confidence in the system due to previous experiences where information supplied to security agencies allegedly failed to yield results.

To restore trust, Kwankwaso proposed encouraging citizens to freely share intelligence to help authorities respond effectively to criminal threats. He confirmed that dialogue with individuals involved in criminal activities would be considered as a tool to discourage violence, while stressing that such dialogue would not replace military operations, which will continue to protect lives and maintain law and order.
