Kwankwaso Plans Dialogue with Terrorists to Tackle Insecurity

Rabiu Kwankwaso, a presidential candidate for the 2027 elections, expressed his commitment to addressing Nigeria's worsening insecurity through dialogue, including discussions with terrorists and criminal elements. In an interview with Channel Television, Kwankwaso highlighted the importance of engaging with communities affected by insecurity, noting that residents often know the identities of those behind attacks but are reluctant to share information with security agencies due to past experiences.

He stated that his administration would prioritize rebuilding trust between communities and security agencies, aiming to encourage people, including terrorists, to lay down their arms. When asked directly if he would hold talks with terrorists, Kwankwaso affirmed that he would engage with everyone, while also acknowledging that military intervention might be necessary in certain situations.

He emphasized that addressing insecurity would be part of a broader strategy to discourage further attacks in Nigeria.
